Huawei launches grid-forming inverter, energy storage system in BD

Huawei has launched Bangladesh’s first grid-forming smart string inverter and energy storage system for the utility sector. The solutions are expected to contribute to Bangladesh’s renewable energy targets and broader development goals.
Managing Director of Huawei South Asia Digital Power Department Will Yu, Chief Technology Officer of Huawei Asia Pacific Digital Power Business Wang Junfeng, and Managing Director of Huawei South Asia Public Affairs Ma Ben inaugurated the solutions at an event titled “Grid-Forming Technology Powering a Greener Future”, organised by Huawei in Dhaka on Wednesday, says a press release. 
Under the theme “The Integration of Solar and BESS Accelerates Renewable Energy Transition,” the event brought together key stakeholders from Bangladesh’s power and renewable energy sectors, including government officials, local utility suppliers, independent power producers, global investors, technical advisers, consultants and EPC contractors.
Huawei introduced the SUN2000-506KTL-H3, the industry’s first grid-forming smart string inverter with a capacity of more than 500kW, alongside the LUTERRA-6261-2S/4S, an advanced Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
The event began with a welcome address by Will Yu, followed by a presentation by Wang Junfeng on “Global Renewable Energy Trends.” Ma Ben delivered the closing remarks.
Will Yu said, “The integration of solar power with battery storage systems is becoming the cornerstone of the global renewable energy transition. Solar generation alone is no longer enough�"we need intelligent energy storage and grid-forming technologies to ensure renewable energy is available whenever it is needed.”
The SUN2000-506KTL-H3 offers higher power density, enhanced system availability, grid-forming capability, intelligent operation and maintenance (O&M), and advanced safety and reliability features, enabling developers to reduce balance-of-system (BOS) costs and achieve a lower levelised cost of energy (LCOE).
