Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) foiled an attempt to push four people into Bangladesh through the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah on Saturday afternoon.
The incident took place around noon in the Chapatala Mazar border area of Maheshpur upazila, according to a BGB press release.
BGB said members of India’s 194 BSF Battalion, stationed at the Mahendra Camp, attempted to send two men, a woman and a child into Bangladesh through the Chapatala border area.
The attempt was noticed by a patrol team of the Kusumpur Border Outpost under the Khulishpur-58 BGB Battalion. BGB members immediately intervened, preventing the four from being pushed into Bangladesh.
The four people are currently staying in a banana plantation around 150 yards inside India from the zero line, the press release said.
BGB has formally informed India’s 194 BSF Battalion about the incident.
