Two leaders of the Jahangirnagar University unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) have been removed from all organisational posts, including their primary membership, for violating party discipline.
The decision was announced in a press release signed by JCD central office secretary Md Jahangir Alam on Saturday.
The two are Ehte Shimul Haque, a student of the 48th batch of the International Relations Department, and Foyez Hawladar of the 51st batch of the Government and Politics Department.
According to the release, the action was taken over specific allegations of organisational indiscipline and was approved by JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir.
JCD sources at the university said the two had shared posts on Facebook honouring Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Aug 15. The posts were considered contrary to the organisation’s ideology and policies, prompting the disciplinary action.
