A legal notice has been sent to former interim government chief advisor Dr Muhammad Yunus seeking a travel ban on him over allegations of transferring measles vaccines to the private sector outside the state system.

Supreme Court lawyer Barrister M Ashraful Islam sent the notice to government officials on Monday.

Confirming the matter, Barrister Ashraful Islam said the legal notice requested steps to prevent Dr Yunus from leaving the country due to his alleged involvement in transferring measles vaccines from the public distribution system to private traders.

The notice comes amidst a major measles outbreak in the country.

According to an updated report by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 803 children died of measles and related symptoms across the country from March 15 to August 15, with 99 more deaths reported recently, taking the total death toll to 902.
