The International Crimes Tribunal-2 has ordered journalist Shyamol Dutta and two others to be produced before the tribunal on August 24 in a case filed over alleged incitement during the July-August 2024 mass uprising.
A single-member bench led by Tribunal-2 Judge Md Manzurul Bashid issued the order on Monday following a prosecution petition.
Prosecutor Faruk Ahmed told the tribunal that journalists Shyamol Dutta, Mozammel Babu and Farzana Rupa allegedly made provocative statements during talk shows and other programmes aired by various media outlets during the July-August uprising.
He said the investigation agency had found the three journalists’ alleged involvement in the case and sought production warrants against them.
After hearing the prosecution, the tribunal granted the petition and issued production warrants against the three, ordering that they be produced before the tribunal on August 24.
