KCC to unveil FY 2026-27 budget on Sept 3

Khulna City Corporation (KCC) will announce its budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year on September 3, 2026 (Thursday).

The decision came on Wednesday afternoon during a special budget meeting held at the Shahid Altaf Auditorium in Nagar Bhaban. KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju presided over the meeting.

The meeting aimed to collect feedback on the revised budget for FY 2025-2026 and the proposed budget for FY 2026-2027. Members of the government-appointed committee for managing the city corporation attended the session.

Speaking on the budget, KCC Administrator Manju said the upcoming budget will be realistic. He noted that the budget size decreased slightly as development and rehabilitation projects for key damaged roads and drainage systems are near completion.

However, he emphasized that KCC’s revenue collection increased in the current fiscal year compared to the previous one, despite a drop in government-funded projects.

Manju outlined plans to create better facilities for women entrepreneurs to market their products. He stressed that everyone is currently working under challenging circumstances. He sought sincere cooperation from all sides to sustain development and build Khulna as a prosperous city.

KCC Chief Executive Officer Rajib Ahmed conducted the meeting. Budget-cum-Accounts Officer Md Moniruzzaman presented data on the proposed FY 2026-2027 budget and the revised FY 2025-2026 budget.

Among others present were KCC Chief Engineer Mashiuzzaman Khan, Secretary Md Reza Rashid, Chief Revenue Officer Rahima Sultana Bushra, Chief Waste Management Officer Md Anisur Rahman, Chief Planning Officer Abir Ul Jabbar, Chief Health Officer Dr Sharif Shammiul Islam, Executive Magistrate Abdullah Al Imran, Architect Rezbina Khanam, KMP Additional Police Commissioner MM Shamimuzzaman, Khulna WASA Deputy Managing Director Jhumur Bala, KDA Deputy Director Md Mamunul Abedin, Assistant Commissioner Imran Hasan, BTCL DGM Md Benjur Rahman, Fire Service Senior Station Officer Md Jakir Hossain, and BIWTA Assistant Coordination Officer Md Monirul Islam.

Authorized ward officers and representatives from various government agencies also attended.
