The Bangladesh Garment Sramik Sanghati has demanded the quick formation of a wage board, full implementation of the Labour Act 2026, an end to worker layoffs and uninterrupted gas and electricity supplies to factories.
The demands were made at a rally in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka on Friday under the slogan, “No layoffs, end the gas and power crisis, save workers and industry.”
Taslima Akhter, president of the Bangladesh Garment Sramik Sanghati, said more than 100 garment factories had closed across the country, leaving more than 4,000 workers without jobs.
