Abdur Rahman Khan appointed as alternate executive director to WB

Former National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan has been appointed as Bangladesh’s Alternate Executive Director at the World Bank for a three-year term.

The Ministry of Public Administration disclosed the appointment in a notification issued on Sunday.

According to the notification, Khan has been appointed on the condition that his post-retirement leave and related benefits will remain suspended. He will also have to sever all professional or employment ties with any other profession, business, or government, semi-government or private organisation.

Khan will serve for three years from the date of joining, while other terms and conditions of his appointment will be determined through a contract.

As Alternate Executive Director, Khan will represent Bangladesh in relevant World Bank activities and policy-making processes.

He was appointed NBR chairman on August 14, 2024. Before that, he served as secretary of the Financial Institutions Division. His tenure as NBR chairman ended on June 29 this year.
