JCD leaders among three arrested over gold robbery

Three people have been arrested, including the president and general secretary of Airport Thana Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), on charges of robbing 200 grams of gold ornaments from a relative of an expatriate near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

The arrested people include JCD President Ripon, JCD General Secretary Al-Amin Shanto and BNP leader Abdur Rouf. 

According to the case statement, the accused intercepted the victims’ vehicle on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway on 28 August, identified themselves as members of the Awami League and Chhatra League, and threatened them with bombs.
