Veteran Tollywood actor Biplab Chatterjee has dismissed rumours of his death that have been circulating on social media, saying he is alive and well.
Several social media users recently shared photographs of the actor with captions claiming that he had died, prompting some fans to offer condolences.
The West Bengal Motion Picture Artists’ Forum strongly protested the spread of the false reports and confirmed that Chatterjee is in good health. The forum also urged people to verify such claims before sharing them.
The forum shared a video message from Chatterjee in which he addressed the rumours with humour.
“I know you all recognise me. I played some mischievous characters, which is why everyone knows me as the bad guy. But I am not worse than the political leaders we have here,” he said.
Addressing the reports of his death, Chatterjee said, “I have apparently died. Well, I will die one day anyway. There is no doubt about that. I will remain alive as long as the Creator wills.”
He urged people to stop spreading such rumours, saying such reports could cause distress to families and colleagues.
“Do not spread such news. I am not saying this only for myself. Think before saying such things about anyone. This is not right,” he said.
