Night market planned in Motijheel: DSCC

Dhaka South City Corporation administrator Md Abdus Salam has announced plans to establish a night market in Motijheel after office hours.

Speaking at the inauguration of a tree plantation program along the metro rail median from Shikkha Bhaban to Dainik Bangla intersection on Thursday (September 3) morning, the administrator urged street hawkers to vacate the roads voluntarily.

Under the proposed plan, hawkers will be allowed to set up their stalls in Motijheel starting at 4:00 PM after regular business hours conclude. The administrator emphasized that hawkers will not be allowed to occupy all areas seven days a week, stressing that vendors must adhere strictly to designated rules and maintain cleanliness.

Highlighting that the tree plantation initiative aligns with the prime minister's environmental protection master plan, Abdus Salam added that trees will be planted beneath all city flyovers in phases. He also warned local traders and office officials to dispose of waste strictly in designated areas.
