Youth kills self at Sherpur

SHERPUR, BOGURA, Sept 3: A 19-year-old college student committed suicide by taking pesticide following marital problems in Sherpur Upazila of the district.

Tamim, the son of Billal Hossain of Fultala Village in Shahbandegi Union, died at Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital after a week of treatment. He was a class eleven student at Bogura Shah Sultan College.

Relatives said Tamim married a woman from the Majhira area about two months ago, but marital problems developed soon afterward. His wife later divorced him, leaving him emotionally distressed, they said.

Tamim drank pesticide at his home on August 26. Family members took him to the hospital, where he died at about 4:20 am on Thursday.

Officer-in-Charge of Sherpur Police Station S M Moinuddin confirmed the news.
