The High Court has dismissed a rule issued in a writ petition filed by Purbachal Probashi Palli Limited seeking security for its housing project. The court also heard allegations that the writ petitioner had misused the court's interim order for personal gain.
Lawyers involved in the case confirmed the matter on Thursday (September 3). A High Court bench comprising Justice Ahmed Sohel and Justice SM Iftekhar Uddin Mahmud delivered the verdict.
Additional Attorney General Mohammad Arshadul Rouf, Deputy Attorney General Mohammad Mohsin Kabir and others appeared for the state. Barrister Badruddoza Badal represented Purbachal Probashi Palli Limited.
According to the case documents, Mohammad Muhidur Rahman, managing director, and Habibur Rahman, chairman, started a housing business in Purbachal, Dhaka, with funding from expatriates under the name Purbachal Probashi Palli Limited.
The company was registered on December 31, 2009. In 2011, the company filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking security for its business establishment and project.
