Colorful inauguration of inter-dvisional under-16 girls' football tournament

Without equal participation of boys and girls in every field, country and society will lag behind: Ruhul Kabir Rizvi
Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that if equal participation of boys and girls in every field, including sports, is not ensured, the country and society will lag behind.
He said this in his speech as the chief guest at the colourful inauguration ceremony of the inter-divisional under-16 girls' football tournament organized by the Bangladesh Women's Sports Association on Friday morning.
He said that sports are such a joyful thing that can bring joy to any person in his/her happiness and sorrow. When the best athletes of a nation show their skills, the heart of the entire nation is filled with joy. When we learn about their success in the international arena, our hearts are filled with joy and we feel that we are not a backward nation.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, "We know that there are many obstacles in our society. But if we want to keep pace with the progress of the world, our girls have to come forward, specially in the sports sector. If we get a best athlete among girls, it makes us proud in the court of the world. It inspires women in other sectors."
The acting secretary general of BNP said that in every field, men and women have to move forward equally. Otherwise, we will go backward. Our Prime Minister has strongly understood this issue. For this, he has created 'Notun Kuri Sports. Those who are worthy should be respected. Such competitions should be organized in every metropolis and districts.
He said, half of our population is women, but if their participation in sports is only five percent or ten percent, then society will not move forward. We will remain behind. Women's participation should be equal everywhere. Women have to represent Bangladesh in the international arena of sports, and earn a good reputation.
He mentioned that efforts are being made to establish a sports university in Bangladesh.
In her welcome speech at the inaugural ceremony, Barrister Sarwat Siraj Shukla, President of Bangladesh Women's Sports Association, said that there is no alternative to women's sports to advance the nationalist power of Bangladesh against extreme conservatism, bigotry, and the forces that sell tickets to heaven. And this is the goal for which Bangladesh Women's Sports Association is working.
Shirin Sultana, MP, Member of Parliament, Dhaka-2,and Rreserved Women's Seat MP Farida Khanam, among others, were present as the special guests.
It is worth noting that this competition is opening new doors of international football for the country's teenage footballers. This is the first time that an inter-divisional under-16 girls' football competition has been organized.
About 300 teenage girls from 16 districts of eight divisions of the country are participating in the competition. The districts are Tangail, Kishoreganj, Narayanganj, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Chittagong, Mymensingh, Netrokona, Satkhira, Khulna, Joypurhat, Rajshahi, Moulvibazar, Sylhet, Pirojpur and Rangpur.
