No PM visit to India before UN general assembly

The date for the Prime Minister’s visit to India has not yet been finalized. However, bilateral discussions between the two countries regarding the visit are underway, said Foreign Affairs State Minister Humayun Kabir.

He made the remarks during an exchange with journalists on Saturday (September 5). The State Minister for Foreign Affairs said there is no possibility of the Prime Minister visiting India before the United Nations General Assembly session. However, discussions between the two countries regarding the visit are continuing.

Regarding Bangladesh joining the Makkah Agreement, Humayun Kabir said discussions on the matter are underway. He said there would be nothing unusual about Bangladesh joining the agreement, noting that many countries around the world are members of multiple security alliances.

He said, “Bangladesh will go wherever it needs to go based on its national interests.”

Meanwhile, Humayun Kabir also said there is no pressure from the United States to purchase Boeing aircraft. He said no one is forcing Bangladesh to buy Boeing planes and that the purchases are being made because of the country’s own demand. 

He added that Bangladesh may purchase more aircraft from the United States in the future if necessary.
