Dhaka region experienced the country's highest electricity load shedding on Saturday (September 5) evening as Bangladesh faced a 2,258 MW power deficit during peak generation hours.

National power grid data released by Power Grid Bangladesh PLC on Sunday showed a total demand of 17,017 MW at 9:00 PM against a significant supply shortage.

Dhaka zone recorded the maximum load shedding of 759 MW against a total demand of 6,182 MW.

Khulna region ranked second with 262 MW of load shedding against a demand of 2,056 MW. Cumilla zone suffered 238 MW shedding against 1,672 MW demand, while Mymensingh faced 234 MW load shedding against 1,417 MW demand.

Among other regions, Rajshahi recorded 204 MW load shedding, Chittagong 177 MW, Rangpur 142 MW, Sylhet 136 MW, and Barishal 106 MW during the same peak hour.

Recent power disruptions across the country have worsened due to ongoing gas supply shortages, coal stock constraints, and technical glitches at several major power plants.
