A record 334 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across Khulna division in the 24 hours to Sunday, the highest daily figure recorded in the division this year.
Of them, 209 were admitted to hospitals in Khulna district, including 45 at Khulna Medical College Hospital.
Khulna Divisional Health Director Dr Sheikh Md Mosharraf Hossain disclosed the figures on Sunday.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, 287 of the new patients were admitted to government hospitals and 47 to private facilities.
Among the other districts, 37 patients were admitted in Jashore, 19 in Bagerhat, 16 in Jhenaidah, 14 in Magura, 15 in Satkhira, nine in Kushtia, seven in Chuadanga, six in Narail and two in Meherpur.
From January 1 to September 6, a total of 7,183 dengue patients have been hospitalised in the division. Of them, 6,112 have recovered, while 885 are currently receiving treatment at government and private hospitals.
No dengue death was reported in the division in the past 24 hours. However, 21 people have died of the disease in Khulna this year, including 18 at Khulna Medical College Hospital, two at Khulna District Hospital and one in Bagerhat.
