
TANGAIL, Sept 9: The Tangail Print Media Association held an indoor games award ceremony on Wednesday to promote solidarity and the physical and mental well-being of journalists.
The event was held at Premio Plaza in Bottola, with Zilla Parishad Administrator SM Obaidul Haque Nasir as the chief guest.
SM Obaidul Haque Nasir said journalists play an important role in guiding society through their reporting and urged them to help build a modern Tangail free of drugs, terrorism and extortion.
“Journalists will play a special role” in highlighting social problems and irregularities, he said.
He also called on people to counter rumours, saying misinformation harms society.
The event was chaired by Print Media Association President Md Jobayed Mallik Bulbul. Other officials attending included Additional Deputy Commissioner Sumaiya Momin, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Shamsunnahar Swapna, Additional Superintendent of Police HM Mahbub Rezwan Siddiqui and District Senior Information Officer Tahlima Jannat.
Attendees included Tangail Journalists’ Union President Shamsadul Akhtar Shamim, General Secretary (GS) Mohabbat Hossain, Reporters’ Unity President and Prothom Alo Correspondent Kamanashish Shekhar, and GS and Daily Janakantha Correspondent Iftekharul Anupam. The event was moderated by Abu Zubayer Ujjal, GS of the Print Media Association.
Guests later presented awards to the winners and runners-up of the indoor games competition.
