10-hour power outage in several Gazipur areas Saturday

Power supply will remain suspended for 10 hours in several areas of Gazipur on Saturday (September 12) due to emergency maintenance and line-upgrade work.

Gazipur Palli Bidyut Samity-1’s Kashimpur Zonal Office disclosed the information in a notice issued on Friday (September 11).

According to the notice, the maintenance work will be carried out from 8am to 6pm to shorten the 11kV feeders, reduce load shedding and ensure uninterrupted power supply while improving the quality of customer service.

As a result, power supply will remain suspended in the designated areas during the scheduled period.

The affected areas include parts of Kashimpur, the area in front of BADC Gate, areas around Rafiqul School, the western side of Kashimpur Stand, Refugee Para, Hajipara, areas around Jitar Mor, Alim area, areas around the graveyard, Jamal Tower, Mallika Bazar, Nayapara, Haker Nol, Lal Dighi, areas around Khanqah Sharif and Rowshan Market.
The authorities said power supply would be restored immediately if the work is completed before the scheduled time.

The authorities expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience caused to customers in the affected areas and urged them to cooperate to ensure uninterrupted power service in the future.

According to locals and police sources, a boat carrying the three people left the Hardinge Bridge area and reached the Lalon Shah Bridge area around 7:00pm when it hit one of the bridge pillars. The impact caused the three passengers to fall into the river. Later, members of the River Police and Fire Service launched a rescue operation and managed to rescue two of them alive. Khandaker Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of the Laxmikunda River Police Outpost in Ishwardi, said the boat carrying the tourists hit a pillar of Lalon Shah Bridge, causing three people to fall into the water. “Two of them have been rescued alive. The River Police and Fire Service are continuing their operation to rescue the remaining missing person,” he said.
