Lawyer’s decomposed body found in Lalbagh

Police recovered a decomposed body from a rented home in Lalbagh’s Shahidnagar Bow Bazar area of Old Dhaka on Saturday. The was deceased identified as Anwar Hossain, 47.

According to police, Anwar was a lawyer and might have died two to three days ago. Anwar’s ancestral home is in Goalgaon village of Gazaria upazila in Munshiganj.

According to Lalbagh police, a tenant living in an adjacent room found Anwar lying dead and informed the police. Police later went to the spot and recovered the body. The CID’s crime scene unit subsequently collected evidence from the scene.

Police said Muhammad Anwar Hossain was a lawyer at the Judge Court, although he had not been regularly practising law for a long time. He lived alone in one of the rooms of the house, while his family lived in the village.

Lalbagh Police Station (PS) Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Jamil Hossain said they initially suspected that Anwar had died of a stroke two days ago. His family members have been informed, he added.
