TEHRAN, Sept 14: Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman says his country and Oman “have taken a joint decision aimed at arriving at a responsible” approach to managing the Strait of Hormuz.
The meeting planned for today with Gulf officials in Muscat was an “opportunity to demonstrate the significance of these decisions”, Esmaeil Baghaei said.
The meeting was cancelled because of “the events unfolding in Yemen”, he added.
“Had this meeting taken place, it would have been a very suitable opportunity [to discuss the new policy]. I do not believe any responsible country would accept in any shape, way, or form to be dictated to or be subjected to pressure from any outside forces.”" AL JAZEERA
