Butler-Banton blitz seals T20I series for England

England secured the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka with a six-wicket win in Cardiff on Thursday (September 17), chasing down 146 with 47 balls to spare.

After winning the toss, England sent Sri Lanka in to bat. Lahiru Udara and Pathum Nissanka put on 56 for the opening wicket, but Sri Lanka struggled to maintain the scoring rate after the powerplay.

Nissanka scored 37 off 21 balls, while Charith Asalanka made 31 off 31. Wanindu Hasaranga added a late 27 off 22 as Sri Lanka finished on 145-9. Liam Dawson took three wickets for England, while Jamie Overton and Jofra Archer claimed two each.

England made a fast start in reply, with Jos Buttler and Aneurin Donald adding 51 in 31 balls. Buttler scored 30 off 15, while Harry Brook hit 23 off eight.

Tom Banton then took control, smashing an unbeaten 52 off just 24 balls. Jordan Cox made 12 before Will Jacks and Banton completed the chase in 13.1 overs.
