23 sacks of fertiliser seized in Jamalpur

The upazila administration seized 23 sacks of fertiliser while they were allegedly being smuggled from Bakshiganj to Islampur in Jamalpur.

The fertiliser was seized during a raid in Tupukarchar village of Merurchar union in Bakshiganj upazila around 3:00 AM on Thursday.

Based on a tip-off, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Murad Hossain led the raid after receiving information that 23 sacks of DADC fertiliser were being transported to Islampur by a van.

The fertiliser was seized from the van and later taken to Bakshiganj Police Station, where it was kept in police custody.

UNO Murad Hossain said they were trying to find out where the fertiliser had come from. Legal action would be taken in this regard.
