Teen’s body recovered from river after going missing in Dinajpur

The body of a boy was recovered from the Karatoya River in Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur on Friday, a day after he went missing.

The deceased was identified as Tasrif ul Islam Titumir,13, son of Abul Kashem of Kachdaha village in the upazila.

According to locals, a body was seen floating in the Karatoya River in the Kachdaha area around 3:00 PM on Friday. After being informed, police went to the spot and recovered the body from the river.

Family members said Tasrif went missing around 3:00 PM on Thursday. Despite searching various places, they could not find him. Relatives and locals had continued searching for him since then.

After news spread that a body had been found floating in the river on Friday afternoon, Tasrif’s relatives rushed to the scene and identified the body as his.

Nawabganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Quddus said, "police quickly went to the spot after receiving the information and recovered the body from the Karatoya River."

Necessary legal procedures are underway, he added.
