Muslim world will unite to defend Makkah, Madinah if attacked: Kaikobad

Bangladesh’s Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad has warned that the Muslim world will stand united to resist any attack on, or threat to the security of, the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.

“If any attempt is made to attack or threaten the security of Makkah and Madinah, Muslims around the world will unite and mount resistance, InshaAllah,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

He made the remarks while condemning any threat to the security of the holy cities and any attempt to attack or undermine their sanctity.

“If necessary, millions of Muslims will be ready to sacrifice their lives to uphold the sanctity and honour of the holy lands,” the minister added.

Kaikobad said Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Madinah Al-Munawwarah are the most revered places of worship and sanctity for Muslims around the world. “These two holy cities are at the heart of the faith, emotions and love of the entire Muslim Ummah. Any attack, aggression or threat to their security is completely unacceptable,” he said.

The minister expressed his strong support for the statements made by the two imams of Al-Haramain, saying that protecting the sanctity and security of Makkah and Madinah is a collective responsibility of the entire Muslim Ummah. “Muslims around the world will jointly resist any aggression or conspiracy against the holy lands,” he said.

Kaikobad further said the people of Bangladesh remain uncompromising when it comes to protecting the security, dignity and sanctity of the two holy cities. 

“We call upon all Muslim states and the Muslim Ummah to set aside their differences and unite under the banner of Islam so that any threat or attempt to attack Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Madinah Al-Munawwarah, now or in the future, can be collectively resisted,” he said.
