Senior muezzin of Masjid al-Haram Sheikh Ibrahim bin Adel Al-Madani passed away in Makkah during Fajr prayers on Monday.

The news of his death was announced in a post on the official X account of Haramain Sharifain.

Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani was a member of the Mukabbiriyah at Masjid al-Haram. Muezzins serving in the Mukabbiriyah deliver the call to prayer and convey the imam's Takbir to worshippers as needed.

Masjid al-Haram maintains 24 regular muezzins, with six on duty daily to deliver calls for the five daily prayers and the first call for Fajr. Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani was particularly known for his Fajr call to prayer and Takbir.

His final call to prayer at Masjid al-Haram took place on 11 Rabi al-Awwal 1448 Hijri. Recordings of his voice include the call to prayer alongside Hajj and Eid Takbirs.

Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani was born in Madinah in 1397 Hijri. He memorized the Holy Quran within his family. He began his career as a muezzin at a local mosque in Madinah at age 15. In 1428 Hijri, he served as a muezzin at Masjid Al-Maddah in Madinah. Authorities officially appointed him as a muezzin of Masjid al-Haram in 1439 Hijri.

Growing up in Madinah allowed Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani to develop a deep familiarity with the Madani style and tone of Adhan. His father later brought him to Makkah, where he learned the distinct Makki style. During his time in Makkah, he met with former Masjid al-Haram muezzin Sheikh Abdul Latif Mulla, gaining firsthand experience in both Makki and Madani styles of Adhan.
