Nasiruddin Patwari should be questioned: DMP

National Citizen Party (NCP) chief organiser Nasiruddin Patwari should be questioned over his recent remarks concerning cocktail explosions and acts of sabotage in the capital, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said on Friday (September 25).

DMP Joint Commissioner (Crime Prevention-South) Md Tofail Ahmed Mia made the remarks at a press briefing at the DMP Media Centre in Dhaka while responding to a question about the recovery of explosives and masks during recent police drives. 

“Why did Nasiruddin Patwari say this? I think he should definitely be questioned,” the police official said.

A video of Patwari discussing recent cocktail blasts and the NCP-led 11-party alliance’s street movement has recently circulated on social media.

In the video, Patwari was speaking about three demands, including the trial of the July mass killings, reforms and implementation of the public mandate through a referendum.

At one point, he said, “We have been continuously on the streets with these three demands. The government is not accepting them. The 11-party alliance is continuing with these demands. If these demands are accepted, there will be no more cocktails exploding in Dhaka.”

The remarks have drawn attention amid recent incidents of cocktail explosions in different parts of the capital.
