‘I lost 99% of what I earned from football’: Roberto Carlos

Brazilian football legend Roberto Carlos has revealed that he lost 99% of the wealth he earned during his football career due to agent and family-related issues.

Speaking at the Portugal Football Summit, the former Real Madrid and Brazil star said he had planned his post-retirement career from an early stage and had worked with several brands.

However, he said serious problems involving a former agent and family matters caused major financial losses.

“I made mistakes. That is why I tell young players not to make the same mistakes,” Carlos said.

The 53-year-old also recalled discovering documents he had never known about, saying he felt he had “lost his entire history” at that moment.

Carlos credited his business partner Paul Brighten and Entourage Sports & Entertainment with helping him rebuild his financial and personal life.
