ACC orders ex-DMP commissioner to submit wealth statement

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has ordered former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Joint Commissioner Biplab Kumar Sarkar to submit a wealth statement after finding evidence of allegedly illegal assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
On Sunday (September 27), ACC Secretary Md Saidur Rahman Khan said an inquiry found that Sarkar allegedly acquired Tk 1.03 crore worth of assets in his own name and in the names of others that were inconsistent with his known sources of income.
Following the inquiry, the investigating officer recommended issuing a notice under Section 26(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, asking Sarkar to submit his wealth statement. The commission has approved the recommendation.
