Measles claims 9 more lives in 24hrs

 
Nine more people died with measles symptoms in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, taking the number of deaths this year to 101 from confirmed measles and 995 from measles-like symptoms.

The combined death toll from confirmed measles and its symptoms now stands at 1096, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in its regular health bulletin on Sunday. The bulletin said four people died with measles symptoms in Dhaka division, while two each died in Sylhet and Chattogram, and one in Mymensingh division between 8am Saturday and 8am Sunday.

During the same period, 1,341 patients with measles symptoms and confirmed measles were admitted to hospitals across the country.

According to DGHS data, a total of 188,041 patients with measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals across the country so far this year while 21,212 admitted in confirmed cases. The DGHS data said that a total of 166,310 patients have been admitted to various hospitals across the country with symptoms of measles since March 15 of this year. Of these, 159,519 patients have been discharged after receiving treatment.
