A fire broke out on a footbridge in Kakoli area of the capital early Sunday.
According to the Fire Service, the fire broke out at around 2am on Monday. After receiving the report, two units of the Fire Service rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control at around 2:30 AM.
The exact cause of the fire could not immediately be determined. However, the Fire Service initially suspected that an electrical short circuit may have caused the blaze.
A section of the footbridge was badly damaged in the fire. Commuters are facing difficulties as the damaged footbridge has not yet been cleared.
