Six more people have died from dengue in the country over the past 24 hours, while 1,942 people were hospitalized due to the infection.

The information was disclosed on Tuesday in the Directorate General of Health Services’ (DGHS) regular dengue bulletin.

The total death toll from dengue this year has reached 239, according to DGHS data. Of these, 43 deaths occurred in August alone. Additionally, 142 people died in the first 28 days of September, 36 in July, 13 in June, one in May, and two each in January and February.

The bulletin stated that 1,942 dengue patients were admitted to various hospitals across the country in the 24 hours following 8:00 AM on Monday. This brings the total number of hospital admissions for dengue this year to 77,672.

In the last 24 hours, 1,751 patients were discharged after recovering, bringing the total number of recoveries to 72,008.

During the period, the highest number of hospital admissions—785—was recorded in Dhaka division. Admissions in other divisions included 264 in Khulna, 213 in Barishal, 301 in Chattogram, 120 in Mymensingh, 56 in Rangpur, and 197 in Rajshahi.
