Bellingham tipped to become England captain

Jude Bellingham could become England’s permanent captain after Harry Kane, with coach Thomas Tuchel hinting at the possibility following their 2-0 win over Czechia.

Bellingham started on the bench but took the captain’s armband after Kane was substituted late in the match. Asked about the decision, Tuchel suggested that regularly leading the team late in games could help a player eventually become the permanent captain.

Bellingham was rested initially for fitness reasons after playing the full match against Spain. He came on late, took on the captaincy and impressed with his performance.

However, Tuchel said Bellingham reported a minor injury after the match, raising concerns ahead of England’s upcoming game against Croatia.

Tuchel also expressed regret that he had not spoken to Marc Guehi, Elliott Anderson and Nico O’Reilly about Manchester City’s financial ruling, as the three England squad members are connected with the club. He later praised Guehi and Anderson for their performances.
