Two die, 248 new dengue patients admitted in Khulna

Dengue infections and outbreaks persist in the Khulna division. Two new deaths were reported in the division over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll for the year to 48.

According to the latest data from the Health Department released on Wednesday, 248 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in the division in the last 24 hours. Of them, 186 were admitted to government hospitals and 62 to private hospitals.

Dr Sheikh Md Mosharraf Hossain, Divisional Director of Health for Khulna, said the total number of dengue cases in the division since January 1 this year has reached 13,411. Of them, 11,897 patients have recovered and returned home, while 1,142 are currently undergoing treatment in various hospitals. Additionally, 324 patients have been referred elsewhere from various districts for advanced medical care.

District-wise statistics indicate that the infection rate is highest in Khulna district. So far, 5,094 dengue patients have been identified in the district, with another 2,719 cases detected at Khulna Medical College Hospital.
