Former Lieutenant Colonel (dismissed) Tarique Sayeed Mohammad was allegedly beaten with sticks by prison guards late at night, according to his lawyer. The lawyer claimed the guards cut off the electricity before assaulting him, leaving injuries on different parts of his body.
Seeking a judicial inquiry into the incident and proper medical treatment for Tarique Sayeed, his lawyer filed an application with the International Crimes Tribunal. The tribunal fixed Thursday (October 1) for hearing the petition.
Lawyer Mahmudul Hossain Rubel said Tarique Sayeed was allegedly attacked by several guards at Munshiganj Jail late on September 16. He claimed Sayeed suffered a head injury and was beaten in different parts of his body.
Tarique Sayeed was produced before International Crimes Tribunal-2 on Wednesday in two cases over alleged crimes against humanity involving the enforced disappearance and killing of BNP leaders in Cumilla and Lakshmipur.
