Another dengue death reported in M'singh, 116 hospitalised

Another dengue patient has died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, while 61 new patients were admitted with the disease in the past 24 hours.

During this period, 55 patients recovered and were discharged from the hospital. With the latest death, the number of dengue-related fatalities at the hospital this year has risen to 25.

The hospital authorities disclosed the information on Sunday (October 4).

The deceased was identified as Khaleda Begum, 55, from Dhobaura upazila of Mymensingh.
She was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital at around 4:50PM on October 2 after testing positive for dengue. She died while undergoing treatment at around 3:40AM on October 4. 

Doctors cited dengue shock syndrome as the preliminary cause of death.

According to the hospital's latest data, 116 dengue patients are currently receiving treatment there. Among them, 63 are men, 42 are women and 11 are children.

Hospital statistics show that 3,223 dengue patients have been admitted since May this year, with 25 deaths recorded during the period.
Despite 61 new admissions and 55 discharges in the past 24 hours, the number of patients currently undergoing treatment remains high.

Two patients are also being treated in the intensive care unit, raising concerns over serious cases.

Doctors warned that dengue complications can cause a patient's condition to deteriorate rapidly. They advised people experiencing fever or other dengue symptoms to seek medical attention promptly and maintain cleanliness around their homes to reduce the risk of mosquito breeding.
