A special awareness campaign was held at the AGB Colony Kachabazar in Motijheel, Dhaka, on Monday morning, with the initiative of Bangladesh Bank and support from IFIC Bank PLC, aimed at expanding the use of digital payments across the country and raising public awareness about ‘Bangla QR’.

The campaign began when Bangladesh Bank Governor Mostaqur Rahman visited AGB Colony Kachabazar and demonstrated the convenience and effectiveness of digital payments by purchasing products directly using Bangla QR, says a press release.

During the visit, he interacted with local merchants and highlighted the process of using Bangla QR, the benefits of cashless transactions, and various aspects of secure digital payments.

Speaking at the event, IFIC Bank Managing Director Syed Mansur Mustafa said that the government’s cashless transaction initiative, under the patronage of Bangladesh Bank, is gradually gaining popularity. As part of this initiative, the introduction of free Bangla QR-based payment services from October 1 is expected to further accelerate its adoption.

He said cashless transactions are crucial for ensuring transparency and good governance. “We hope that transactions through Bangla QR will soon gain widespread acceptance among both the general public and businesses,” he added.

Bangladesh Bank is implementing various initiatives, including Bangla QR, to expand the scope of cashless transactions in the country and build an inclusive digital payment ecosystem.

As part of these ongoing efforts, IFIC Bank is actively promoting digital payment methods such as Bangla QR and raising public awareness through its extensive network of more than 1,400 branches and sub-branches and approximately 60,000 merchants, while bringing people across the country under modern and convenient banking services.
