Bangladesh's National Cricket League (NCL) witnessed another productive day for the batters on Sunday, with all four second-round matches moving into the third day without a result.
Dhaka strengthened their position against Sylhet after declaring at 547 for six at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Sylhet reached 154 for two by stumps, leaving the hosts 393 runs behind. The visitors had built their total around the contributions of Mohammad Naim Sheikh, Jishan Alam and Marshall Ayub on the opening day.
Rangpur also established a substantial advantage over Mymensingh at the Sylhet Academy Ground. After declaring at 422 for nine, Rangpur reduced their opponents to 183 for six. Mymensingh ended the day 239 runs adrift, with four wickets remaining in their first innings.
Khulna moved into the strongest position among the four teams, piling up 463 for nine against Rajshahi at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Rajshahi had been dismissed for 119 in their first innings, leaving Khulna with a commanding 344-run lead at stumps.
At Cox's Bazar, Chattogram continued to build on their advantage against Barishal. After bowling Barishal out for 282, Chattogram reached 479 for four to take a 197-run first-innings lead. The hosts will look to extend that advantage when play resumes.
The second round has therefore produced contrasting challenges for the four teams batting second. Sylhet and Mymensingh must first close substantial deficits, while Rajshahi face the prospect of another difficult innings. Barishal, meanwhile, will need early wickets to prevent Chattogram from moving further ahead.
With the third day approaching, Khulna hold the largest lead, while Dhaka and Rangpur have also put themselves in strong positions. All four matches remain open, but the teams that have dominated with the bat will aim to turn their advantages into match-winning opportunities.
