Two drown in two districts

Two people drowned in separate incidents in Jamalpur and Pirojpur districts in two days.

JAMALPUR: A 16-month-old child drowned in a pond near his home in Fazilpur area of Charpakerdaha Union in Madarganj Upazila of the district on Sunday noon. 

Deceased Ratul was the son of Monjurul Islam of the area.

Ratul fell into the pond while playing in the yard unnoticed by family members. He was later rescued and taken to Madarganj Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead. 

However, an unnatural death case was filed over the child’s death, said Officer-in-Charge of Madarganj Model Police Station Snehashish Roy.

PIROJPUR: Arup Halder 3, son of Arabinda Halder of Ganakpara Village under Nesarabad Upazila of the district, drowned in a local canal on Saturday noon. 

Locals said Arabinda’s wife died of dengue three days ago, and he was cooking food for his kids. The minor alone went to his mother’s graveyard beside the canal. At one stage, he drowned in the canal. 

Neighbours recovered the body and took it to Nesarabad Health Complex, where doctor on duty declared him dead.
