The US Treasury Department has pledged support and cooperation to help Bangladesh maintain economic stability amid high inflation and mounting economic challenges, Prime Minister’s Economic Adviser Dr Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir said.
He made the remarks after a meeting between a Bangladeshi delegation and US Treasury officials in Bangkok on Wednesday (October 14) morning.
Titumir said the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and the US Treasury Department were taking into account longstanding economic problems inherited from the previous government, as well as the impact of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
He said the development partners believed the current government was sincerely working to address Bangladesh’s economic crisis and resolve the underlying problems, prompting them to offer assistance.
Titumir expressed hope that progress on the proposed support and assurances regarding cooperation would emerge within the next two to three months.
