More than 2,000 Palestinian children have been detained by Israeli forces since October 2023, with 350 reportedly held under harsh and inhumane conditions, the Palestinian Prisoners Society said, Al Jazeera reported.
In a report published on Wednesday (October 14), the organisation accused Israeli authorities of taking repressive measures against Palestinian children, including intimidation, arrests, torture, starvation and denial of medical care.
The group said the detention of children without formal charges or a specified release date violated their rights and exposed them to further abuses.
Such practices leave children in uncertainty, separate them from their families and deprive them of normal education and family life, the report said.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society called on the international community to take effective steps to secure the release of detained Palestinian children.
It also urged independent investigations into the detentions and called for measures to end alleged torture, starvation and the denial of necessary medical treatment.
The organisation stressed that stronger international action was needed to protect the children, uphold their rights and help them return to normal life.
