Man electrocuted in Joypurhat

JOYPURHAT, Oct 18: A 30-year-old man died of electrocution on Sunday while attempting to connect a water pump to drain a pond at his in-laws’ home in Panchbibi Upazila of the district.

The incident occurred around 11:30 am on October 18 in Barapukuria Village under Kusumba Union.

The victim, Md Abul Kalam Azad, was the son of late Abbas Mondal and a resident of Chhatinali Village in Awlai Union of the same upazila.

According to local residents and family members, Azad was connecting the pump to an electrical supply to drain the pond when he was electrocuted. He collapsed at the scene and died before relatives could rescue him.

Momena Khatun, panel chairperson and acting chairperson of Kusumba Union Parishad, confirmed the incident and said police had been informed.
