Bangladesh and Iraq on Sunday signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in Baghdad on the sidelines of the 52nd Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The MoUs provide for mutual exemption from visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and official passports and the establishment of a mechanism for regular political consultations between the two countries.
Bangladesh State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir and Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed Hussein signed the MoUs.
At the signing ceremony, the two ministers exchanged warm greetings and reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening the friendly and cooperative relations between Bangladesh and Iraq.
They expressed confidence that the agreements would inject fresh momentum into bilateral engagement and open up new avenues for cooperation. Major General Md Maksudul Haque, Bangladesh’s ambassador to Iraq, was also present at the ceremony.
