The Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq has announced a 75 per cent reduction in fines for expired visas and residence permits, offering relief to Bangladeshi expatriates and other foreign residents.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Iraq confirmed the decision on Wednesday, citing an announcement by the region’s Interior Ministry.

Under Order No. 32557, eligible foreign nationals will have to pay only 25 per cent of their outstanding late fines.

The waiver applies to those who entered Kurdistan with valid visas but could not extend them or convert them into residence permits, as well as those whose residence permits have expired.

Applicants must contact any residence directorate in the Kurdistan region by December 31, 2026, to complete the required procedures and receive the benefit.
