US President Donald Trump has said Washington is not holding talks with Iran, hinting that “something” could happen soon.
Trump made the remarks while answering reporters before boarding Air Force One on Thursday, October 22. He said most people expected developments to come after the November 3 midterm elections.
Earlier, The New York Times reported that the US and Israel had drafted plans for fresh strikes on Iran after the elections. The proposed operation could be brief but intense, targeting military assets and energy infrastructure.
However, it remains unclear whether Trump will ultimately authorise a new military operation, the newspaper reported.
The US and Israel launched joint strikes on Iran on February 28, killing former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several ministers and senior military officials.
