AL leader held at border on way to India

He was detained by immigration police at around 12:05 PM on Thursday, October 22, when he arrived at the checkpost to leave Bangladesh for India.

After the matter was reported to senior authorities, four members of the Tamabil Police Outpost under Gowainghat Police Station arrived at the scene.

Later, at around 12:50 PM, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Didarul Islam of Jaintiapur Police Station took him into custody at the station.

Sources concerned said, several cases had been filed against Kamal Ahmed at Jaintiapur Police Station. Police will take further legal action regarding the cases against him.

Contacted for comment, Jaintiapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahbubur Rahman said Kamal, also known as the chairman, was in police custody and that further legal proceedings would follow after verification.
