A 25-year-old housewife was hacked and shot to death by unidentified miscreants in Khulna city on Thursday (October 22) evening.

The victim was identified as Khushi, 25, wife of Sumon Sardar, a resident of Jindapara Lane No. 7 under Labanchara Police Station in the city.

According to local residents and police, Sumon, locally known as "Blade Babu," and his wife Khushi were identified as drug peddlers in the area. They had a long-standing feud with a local criminal group over drug-related disputes.

As a continuation of the dispute, two youths arrived on a motorcycle at around 6:45 PM on Thursday. One of them hacked and shot Khushi before fleeing the scene.

Locals rescued the critically injured woman and rushed her to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where attending physicians declared her dead on arrival.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Labanchara Police Station Syed Mosharef Hossain confirmed the incident, stating that a police team was immediately dispatched to the spot upon receiving information.

Police gathered details regarding the attack from witnesses in the vicinity and have launched drives at various locations to arrest the perpetrators involved in the murder, the OC added.
