Jamaat condemns shooting at Asif Akbar’s car

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has strongly condemned the shooting targeting the personal car of popular singer and former Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Asif Akbar in Moghbazar, Dhaka.

In a statement on Saturday, the party’s Assistant Secretary General and Central Publicity and Media Secretary, Advocate Ahsanul Mahbub Zubair, described the incident as alarming and called for effective action to ensure public safety.

He urged law enforcement agencies to identify those involved, bring them to justice and ensure exemplary punishment through a fair investigation.

The shooting took place early Saturday in front of Bishal Center Shopping Mall in Moghbazar. Asif was not inside the car at the time. He said he was at his office on an upper floor of the shopping mall when the incident occurred.
