JERUSALEM, Oct 24: Israelis will vote on Tuesday in a closely contested parliamentary election that could determine whether Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remains in power after years of war, political divisions and growing debate over the government’s handling of national security.
Final opinion polls published on Friday indicated that neither camp was assured of winning the 61 seats needed to command a majority in the 120-member Knesset, Israel’s parliament.
Two surveys projected 50 seats for parties aligned with Netanyahu and 52 for Eisenkot’s opposition camp, while another poll put the broader opposition bloc ahead but also showed it falling short of a majority." REUTERS
