Punjabi star Sara Gurpal tags Cyber Cell over death and rape threats

Punjabi actress and singer Sara Gurpal has announced plans to initiate strict legal action after receiving online rape and death threats following her elimination from the reality television show Rise and Fall 2.

Addressing the issue on her Instagram Stories on Saturday (October 24), the former Bigg Boss 14 contestant described the online harassment directed at her and her family as "bizarre and disgusting".

Gurpal stated that while viewers have the right to agree or disagree with her opinions expressed on the show, issuing violence threats and making obscene comments about her body crosses acceptable boundaries.

"Har kisi ki apni opinion ho sakti hai (everyone can have an opinion), but that doesn't give you the right to threaten or abuse anyone," she wrote, terming the perpetrators "spineless trolls" and tagging the official Instagram handles of Cyber Crime Cell India.

Reports indicate the online backlash intensified following heated on-screen altercations between Gurpal and co-contestant Priyanka Chahar Choudhary during her stint on the Virender Sehwag-hosted show.

Sara Gurpal is a prominent figure in Punjabi cinema, known for her roles in feature films such as Manje Bistre and Shava Ni Girdhari Lal. In addition to Bigg Boss 14, she previously appeared in Reality Ranis of The Jungle 2 in 2025, finishing as the runner-up.
